We would like to express our most sincere condolences to the Parker family for their tragic loss at The Hide. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Thank you

Thank you to our agents, guests, friends and family for their support after the recent tragedy at the Hide. Your kind and supportive words in form of emails, phone calls and visits have helped us immensely during this difficult time.

Camp Refurbishments

Our refurbishment at the camp was successfully completed at the end of February 2007. We are extremely pleased with our new lounge and deck area. Our breakfast area received an appropriate facelift. We renovated our tents and some of our bathrooms. We gutted, extended and refitted our kitchen where our amazing chefs are now cooking up even tastier meals than before. We hope you enjoy the new look as much as we do!!

Rovos Rail

Rovos Rail, the most luxurious train in Southern Africa, stops regularly at the Hide in the Hwange National Park en route from Pretoria to Victoria Falls and back again. Guests are able to get on or off the train at the Hide and spend a few days with us in Hwange before or after their Rovos Rail trip. For more information please visit www.rovos.co.za
For reservations and timetable information please contact Jolene Timothy at Rovos Rail. Tel: (+27-12) 315 8311 or email Jolene@rovos.co.za

Current Situation in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe has been in the News regularly over the last few weeks with reports of violence, especially towards opposition members. All these incidents have occurred in the high-density suburbs of Bulawayo and Harare. There have been no incidents of violence in Victoria Falls and the Hwange areas and are safe to visit. We will be first to advise all our clients if we feel that their safety is no longer guaranteed. Please do not hesitate to contact us any time if you have any questions concerning the situation in the country.

Camp News

We are happy to let you know that we had a few good rains recently.  About 3 weeks ago the Hide and its surrounding areas were already extremely dry and we were very worried.  The rains have brought some relief and the area is looking greener.  Guests have recently spotted rhino, bat-eared fox, lion and even one of our elusive leopards, whose spoors we regularly see but don't encounter very often.

Guest Comments

For this issue we have chosen a guest comment from a very special guest! Thank you Jack for your wonderful email!

I had the best holiday I have ever had in my life. I am hoping that my Mum Lisa and I will come to Africa one day so that I can show her The Hide and the magnificent animals that I saw. I would love it if you could send me the newsletter often, as I am going to print them and put them on the walls of my bedroom. I hope to become a Wildlife photographer when I grow up, and come back and live in Zimbabwe. Thank you so much again, and 'Cheers' to all the animals and friends I made.
