Camp Calling

A recent night drive just 3km from camp brought high excitement with a live Lion kill - at first the guests arrived to sub adult lions stalking a herd of impalas... but the sub adult lions being amateurs didn't succeed with the kill. Then moments later, was heard what sounded like hooves in the distance. Having turned off the vehicle, everyone kept so quiet they could hear themselves breathing... Peter turned his spotlight on, and everyone saw the pride heading off at pace to join Rogan the dominant male. Next thing, the whole pride were all holding down a giraffe - over a few minutes the giraffe valiantly even got to its feet at one point and deal some stunning kicks before it succumbed to just too many lions and joined the great circle of life - what a sighting though!

Pumped waterholes such as Kennedy 2 are looking magnificent and a perfect spot for evening sundowners - the other day there were up to 80 elephants there!

The game numbers are picking up constantly as the bushveld dries out - just the other day looking out over lunch from our grand 22-seater teak dining table we could see a herd of wildebeest, troop baboons, family of warthogs, giraffe in the tree line, and two herds of impala eating along the vlei.... quite a busy afternoon!

One avid group of photographers out with Andy for the day managed to see Cheetah, Lion And Leopard!

Plunge In!

The new and discreetly positioned plunge pool is now complete with sun loungers and waterhole view! It may not attract too many guests until about mid-August with the current cool-dry season, but we can see much happy plunging ahead!

Did You Know?

A new Transfrontier Park called Kavango-Zambezi is currently under consideration. The park will be a massive 300,000 square kms and incorporate Hwange NP, Zambezi NP, Chobe NP, Kafue NP, part of southwest Angola, and other smaller parks in Namibia and Zambia.

This park is believed can make a huge difference to enabling more elephant “corridors” along which elephant can move so as to avoid overpopulations of elephant in parks like Hwange and Chobe.

Some main challenges will include de-mining the proposed areas in Angola and the combined initiatives and cooperation of the governments of the five African countries involved.

Ian & Sally enjoying a 4th honeymoon in "tent 6" I think it is!?

Thank you as always for all your support!
