Greetings and Latest News from The Hide

"The Hide was the highlight of our trip in Zimbabwe. No experience can compare to sitting in the waterhole hide surrounded by a herd of Elephant, a Lion and Buffalo - ALL AT ONCE! The animals were only meters away from us while we were completely safe in the hide. I never felt smaller than when sitting that close to a bull Elephant. Everything at The Hide was top notch. The accommodation, meals, guides and staff were all phenomenal. We would recommend the Hide to everyone, and look forward to returning."

~Dan & Allison, Washington DC, December 2004~

"We had one of our best holidays at The Hide in December; awesome game viewing of lions and eles, an empty Hwange so very few vehicles at amazing sightings, wonderful international guests and days of total relaxation watching herds of everything, drinking at the pan right in front of our tent! ...Every day was spectacular.

~Sally & Ian, Cape Town, South Africa, January 2005~

News From Camp

The game viewing in and around The Hide's concession once again proved to be the best viewing in the Park over December and January. "Four of the Big Five" have been seen on a regular basis, with only the elusive Leopard spoiling the party on a number of occasions.

However the Big Five was seen on one afternoon game drive, all within 2 hours!

Two guests who had the patience to sit in The Hide near the pan over dinner, were lucky enough to see Lion, Elephant and Buffalo all around the pan in front of them at one time. The resident Lion pride have been seen nearly every night for the last month, and unfortunately were chased away in the last few days by a bigger pride of 8 lionesses and one hefty male. Hopefully they will move off and Rogan and his two lionesses will return.

Agents in Camp at the end of February stopped to gawk at a pride of lion lying up in a tree. The pride then proceeded to dismount and lie right in front of their vehicle!

The recent rain has spread the game, and Elephant and Buffalo sightings have become more sporadic. The bush was very dry though, and the rain was a welcomed relief. Plains game is still numerous with Zebra, Wildebeest, Impala, Waterbuck drinking at the pan, as well as sprinklings of Sable and Giraffe. Kennedy 2 and Ngweshla Pans are still prime spots for seeing Elephant bulls, Roan Antelope and herds of Sable.
