With the winter months approaching, we are grateful
to have had excellent rains on the Concession this year.
The bushveld has come alive, everything has blossomed,
the animals are flourishing and it is a time for playing,
breeding and feeding.
With the wide diversities of flora and fauna on our
Concession The Hide can offer the wildlife
enthusiast a unique experience to gain a completely
new perspective of the African bush.
Wildlife Conservation
The Hide is still very much committed to Wildlife Conservation
in our area.
Hyena, Painted Hunting Dog and Lion research programmes
operate close by
and we are excited to be able to arrange on request
for the Researches to come
and give interesting talks and slide shows to our guests.
A few words from Barry, our Manager/Pro-Guide …..
The game viewing continues to be excellent on the Concession.
Lion have been
spotted all over, confusing the Researches as to where
they have all come from.
We hear them almost every second night. On two occasions
our guests were allowed to observe two lion being darted
on the Concession by Researches, one to have a collar
fitted and the other to have a wound repair. Elephant
have started drinking at the pan, the elusive leopard
have not been seen recently however the spoor of a pair
have been seen daily along the vlei in front of the
camp on the early morning walk. A rhino has been seen
about every two days, always a pleasure to see! We have
seen a red hartebeest which
has been adopted into a herd of wildebeest, there are
hippo at Ngweshla pan which make good viewing for our
guests whilst they enjoy an evening sundowner. Herds
of up to 40 giraffe have been observed
feeding together. Roan, sable, jackal, zebra, wildebeest,
impala, kudu,
baboons, monkeys, waterbuck, bushbuck and not forgetting
the adorable
bat eared fox make up the animals seen almost on a daily
basis on the drives.
